What is Seyant & who am I?
Seyant means “becoming” in French. While I (now) know that it means a different form of “becoming” as in, “that dress is becoming on you.” I thought it meant the idea of “becoming what I want to become.” After the LLC was purchased, I learned the truth of the meaning. If you know me.. that tracks. It felt right so I stuck with it. While the practice was established in 2024, my journey to becoming began with my personal counseling journey in the early 2000’s.
After spending 15 years in the corporate world of digital and print advertising, I knew my soul felt empty from the work I was doing. It has been said that Advertising is the opposite of therapy because it tells you what you need because of what you aren’t. While therapy helps you find what you are and what you don’t need. I can certainly relate to that context. Knowing my purpose had changed by becoming a mother, I left that world and became a household engineer. I focused on my kids, my husband and my home. Yet still I still felt like I was missing something.
I am an artist by craft - and have the plague of thinking I can figure anything out. So I dove headfirst into DIY’ing my home and began to paint wood signs as a hobby and an outlet from my daily mom life. But I still felt like I was missing something. In my own healing journey, I discovered perinatal mood disorder and how affected I had been by post partum depression. Suffering so greatly and feeling like I was in isolation, I knew I couldn’t be the only one. So my journey to helping others began.
I wanted, as well as needed, to give my children more of my “good” energy but I didn’t recognize what that was at the time. As many young mothers do, I had lost so much of my sense of self. After much self-exploration and therapy (which was very hard to find at the time) I recognized that my personal purpose needed fulfillment in order to be the best mom, wife and human I could be. Hence, how I became a solution to the problem I had. We need more therapists and stronger community.
My journey landed me in the helping field mostly because I know I find my purpose in growth - both in the form of growing things -plants, flowers etc., seeing growth in myself and helping other people find their ways to grow. I enjoy learning, discovering and hearing everyone’s story and learning how that plays a role in who we all become.
I am and hope to always be a work in progress. A journey to seek.
I hope to always be Seyant.
(Even if it doesn’t mean what I originally thought it did.) :)
